Fire broke out at a welding workshop run by Kalaiselvan in the Ooty market area, which comprises of residential buildings, other workshops, hotels and a maternity hospital. Though the welding workshop was closed today, a fire broke out inside the workshop owing to a short circuit.
Fire rescuers rushed to the spot and after tirelessly combating the flames, they managed to douse the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby buildings. It is estimated that goods worth Rs.5 lakhs were damaged in the fire.
