Two forest department officials who were involved in patrolling the forest area of Wayanad district in Kerala sustained grievous injuries in a tiger attack. Since the district is located near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border adjoining Gudalur, the Forest Department needed to ascertain if the tiger was roaming in the Ambalamoola area of Gudalur.

Meanwhile, a 13-year old male tiger was earlier caught in a cage and placed at the Wayanad Irulam area. As the tiger had minor injuries, officials are still discussing on whether to release the tiger into the forest.
