According to reports, Podhigai Restaurant situated near Law College on Marudhamalai Road has a swimming pool that is 7 ft deep. Five students studying in Class 11 visited the restaurant and used the swimming pool this morning. Anbu Selvan, one among the lads drowned unexpectedly.
Since the other boys who were with him did not know swimming, they reportedly screamed for help. The security guard Dhevaraj (60) who jumped into the water to rescue Anbu Selvam also drowned. On information, the Vadavalli Police rushed to the spot, collected the corpses and sent them for postmortem.
