Coimbatore : Helicopters of the Indian Air Force (IAF) were deployed on Monday morning to douse the fire, which has been raging since Saturday at the Vellalore dump yard.

The helicopters were deployed after the Coimbatore Corporation sought help from the Indian Air Force.
“As the wind speed is high, the fire is spreading at a fast pace. Compared to yesterday, the smoke is much less now. Hence, choppers may have been pressed into service.”, noted a source from the Corporation.
