Coimbatore : Coming down heavily on the AIADMK run State Government, former Central Minister A. Raja called the Athikadavu Avinashi Ground Water Recharge scheme a bogus.

Coimbatore : Coming down heavily on the AIADMK run State Government, former Central Minister A. Raja called the Athikadavu Avinashi Ground Water Recharge scheme a bogus.

Raja, the DMK candidate for the Nilgiris Lok Sabha Constituency met media persons after attending an inter-alliance meet at Avinashi.

Interacting with media, he said that the Athikadavu - Avinashi Ground Water Scheme should be actually named Kalingarayan Canal Excess Water Scheme, which would deem fitting.

“The Government is cheating the public by saying that it had started the scheme, whereas this is only a micro project. The DMK Government wanted to implement the project with larger interest of people from the entire region. The current scheme would only benefit a few and many areas including Mettupalayam and Karamadai will be left out,” he opined.

Earlier, talking to members of alliance parties, Raja urged that socialism, secularism and democracy of the country were under threat because of the BJP rule.

“If the BJP comes to power again, no elections would be held and our democracy would be tarnished,” he said.

He also requested to give him another chance as the MP from the consciency.
