Tirupur: The election flying squad led by officer Sathya on Saturday conducted surprise checks in separate places on the Udumalpet- Dindigul highway leading to seizure of about 1 crore worth of gold and silver ornaments which was enroute to a jewelry shop in Coimbatore.
Tirupur: The election flying squad led by officer Sathya on Saturday conducted surprise checks in separate places on the Udumalpet- Dindigul highway leading to seizure of about 1 crore worth of gold and silver ornaments which was enroute to a jewelry shop in Coimbatore.
Even after the concerned person stated that all the above jewels have been accounted and the receipts are at the Coimbatore shop, the officials refuse to agree and confiscated the jewels along with the vehicle to the Udumalpet Tahsildhar office.
If the receipt and supporting documents are not produced by tonight, the jewels would be handed over to the treasury, the officials said.
