The Nilgiris: Officials of the Tea Board of India have seized 7 tonnes of adulterated tea in Kotagiri.
Tax Collector Murugan and check post head constable Bala who were on duty at Kunjapanai check post on Saturday, interrogated a lorry which was moving towards Kotagiri from Mettupalayam. As they found tonnes of tea powder, they alerted the tea board officials.
The Tea Board officials rushed to the spot and found that they were adulterated tea powder. They seized all the 7 tonnes of adulterated tea powder and confiscated the lorry.
Meanwhile, members of Naakkupetta farmers association has stated that they will protest, ithe officials do not take stern action on the issue.
