KPCC leadership is of the view that Rahul should contest from a southern state too. Oommen Chandy said Rahul had expressed his willingness to contest from south India and that he has proposed Wayanad as a good choice for the leader who is about to contest in South India for the very first time.
Chandy said he had discussed the idea with Congress candidate T Siddique, who was ready to withdraw his candidature from Wayanad.
The Congress will be contesting in the 16 of the 20 seats in the state, of which, candidates for 12 seats have been announced except for Vadakara, Wayanad, Alapuzha and Attingal.
KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran is set to hold a press conference soon, if Rahul would be contesting in Wayanad.
