Coimbatore: In view of upcoming Lok sabha election to be held on 18 April 2019 in Coimbatore, 180 officials under flying squad head and 30 teams comprising of 150 officials, under monitoring team head have been carrying out search operations 24/7 in the district.
Coimbatore: In view of upcoming Lok sabha election to be held on 18 April 2019 in Coimbatore, 180 officials under flying squad head and 30 teams comprising of 150 officials, under monitoring team head have been carrying out search operations 24/7 in the district.
With the model code of conduct in force, the Election Commission is tightening its grip over illegal money transactions during elections. People carrying more than Rs. 50,000 are advised to carry proper documents. Failing to produce the documents, the officers of flying squad will confiscate the cash and hand over the same to the Income tax department or treasury.
So far, the election flying squad have seized Rs 87,92,340/- . Also, 980 liquor bottles, 64 silk sarees and one air pistol has been handed over to the respective treasuries and police station in the district.
