Karthikeyan of SIHS colony in Coimbatore was involved in a stage decor business, especially for marriage functions. On July 2, 2016, Karthikeyan was found murdered along with his friend named Gopala Krishnan, an auto driver. The Peelamedu police had registered case and commenced investigation.
During the investigation it was found that Karthikeyan had dues to the tune of Rs.1 lakh to be paid to a person known as Karuppasamy who murdered Karthikeyan and his friend since they did not return the money.
Following this, Karuppasamy was arrested and lodged in prison. During the hearing of the case at the Coimbatore Court today, Magistrate Gunasekaran sentenced Karuppasamy to triple imprisonment. Vetri Selvan and Selvan who were arrested along with Karuppusamy were released owing to lack of evidence.
