Coimbatore : A motivational program to instill self-confidence in the girls of the State-aided Seva Nilayam School in the city turned out to be a delightful interactive session for the students with the chief guest Swarnalatha, the Founder of Swarga Foundation.
Coimbatore : A motivational program to instill self-confidence in the girls of the State-aided Seva Nilayam School in the city turned out to be a delightful interactive session for the students with the chief guest Swarnalatha, the Founder of Swarga Foundation.
Swarnalatha regaled the students with her own life experiences saying she has been successful in life after facing many ups and downs. “After I met with an accident, I thought my life was ruined. But my education, self-confidence and the unflinching support of my husband have lifted me to this position in life today.
Education is an important part of our lives, for every one of us. There is no age and no bar for learning. We can learn to the maximum during our lifetime. We should learn to live in peace, content and and happy with whatever we have. Beauty is not about one’s facial appearance or physique.
It is in the heart. What we dream for should be a strong desire, only then can we be successful," reiterated Swarnalatha. She appealed to the students to serve their best to others. "Cultivate the attitude of serving and helping others. You start teaching others what you have learnt, right from now itself."
In her welcome speech, the School Secretary Jaishree Ravi traced the history of the school saying that the school was founded in 1947 by TVM Thillaiammal for destitute girls and has been operational for the past 72 years in labouring for the cause of girls’ development. Thillaiammal is reputed for following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
A large number of destitute girls study at the Seva Nilayam School which has classes up to the 12th standard. The school is known for offering quality education to its students. After the girls complete their school education here, they are offered free college education at Angappa College of Arts which is run by the School Secretary. Employment opportunities are also offered to the students thereafter.
At a specified age, the girls are also eligible to have their marriage conducted free of cost. Thus far, Seva Nilayam School has been instrumental in uplifting the lives of 30,000 students who have gone on to qualify as teachers, doctors and computer experts, besides being housewives.
