Coimbatore: Six patients in different hospitals in the city were given a new lease of life when the organs of a 47-year old brain dead patient at Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) were donated by his kin.

According to a release from KMCH, Madhiyalagan (47) who is survived by his wife Mohana, daughter Nivedhitha and son Dhanush was from Kuruvammal Nagar at Sulur. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, after he fell unconscious due to a block in his brain, brought about by high blood pressure last month. After being given first aid, he was admitted to KMCH where he was treated in the intensive care unit.
Since he had not responded to the treatment and was declared brain dead, his wife Mohana took the brave initiative of donating his organs which included his kidneys, eyes, skin and bones.
