COIMBATORE - C.P. Radhakrishnan
TUTICORIN - Tamilisai Soundararajan
KANYAKUMARI - Pon Radhakrishnan
SIVAGANGAI - H. Raja
RAMANATHAPURAM - Nayinar Nagendran
C.P. Radhakrishnan, the two-time MP from Coimbatore has been announced as the BJP candidate to contest from Coimbatore. With major parties announcing their candidates for the upcoming elections, the BJP announced its candidates for the five seats that the party is contesting in Tamil Nadu. C.P Radhakrishnan was announced as the party's candidate, ahead of Vanathi Srinivasan and Dr. P Kanagasabapathi.
Though Coimbatore is considered as the stronghold for both AIADMK and BJP, the BJP believes that C.P. Radhakrishnan will be able to emerge victorious with a considerable majority. However, he lost to A.P. Nagarajan in the 2014 elections with a margin of 41,000 votes.
About C.P. Radhakrishnan
Born in 1957, C.P Radhakrishnan is currently the Coir Board Chairman. A two-time member of the Lok Sabha, he won on a BJP ticket in the 1998 and 1999 general elections in the aftermath of the 1998 Coimbatore bombings. He won by a margin of over 1,50,000 votes in 1998 which was reduced to a margin of 55,000 in the 1999 elections. He is also the former State President of the BJP party for Tamil Nadu.
