Coimbatore: Students of Coimbatore Law College who had been staging a sit-in dharna since yesterday have finally withdrawn their protest.
The protesting students were urging action against the Coimbatore (Rural) Superintendent of Police, R Pandiarajan for releasing the victim's name in connection with the Pollachi sexual abuse case and demanded to cancel the cases filed against 167 fellow-students who carried out protests.

Earlier today, in an attempt to persuade the students to call off their protest, the college principal penned a letter to the students urging them to withdraw their protest. However, the students were firm on their decision and continued their protest today.

Thereafter, the college management and members of the Coimbatore District Lawyers Association negotiated with the students, following which the students withdrew their protest.
