Coimbatore: In a surprisingly sweeping statement to the media in Coimbatore, the General Secretary of Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi, E R Eswaran alleged that hundreds of women in Pollachi were threatened and sold to foreign countries.
"The DGP is not ready to get the video evidence from the complainants of the case. The former late CM Jayalalithaa had given priority to the security of women in the State but the present situation seems to be in stark contrast where even if culprits are handed over to the police, they are unwilling to take necessary action.
The present Government is attempting to provide a haven for culprits which can be seen when the police are arresting students who protest for justice, and providing security for the homes of culprits. The women of the Kongu region are not being protected, which is clear after this incident came to light," he further alleged.
E R Eswaran felt that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will not only bring change in the regime but also bring an end to the five-year long grief of people, in just a single day when results are out. "People who rely on industries were grieving these past five years since lakhs of people lost their jobs.
The election manifesto of AIADMK does not seem to be effective. The AIADMK itself has accepted that the industrial sector has declined by mentioning in their election manifesto that efforts will be initiated to uplift the industrial sector," added E R Eswaran. "Statistics reflects the minds of people according to which the DMK-led alliance will emerge victorious in all 40 constituencies.
All the industrialists will not vote for BJP since the party did not fulfill any of the promises it made, five years ago," he noted.
