Coimbatore : Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, a discussion was held at the DMK office in Vada Kovai here, in which members of allied political parties DMK, Congress, CPI (M), MDMK and VCK participated.
The CPI (M) District Secretary, V Ramamoorthy said, "People are adversely affected due to factors such as decline in the industrial sector and demonetisation, which has turned to be a huge setback for the BJP. Everyone should work effectively for the victory of our candidates."
Ex-MLA Arumugam of CPI said, "It is the duty of the parties in the coalition to work for the victory of the secular progressive alliance. We should beat the BJP and AIADMK in the elections with the help of public power. The DMK will emerge victorious in the by-elections and members in the coalition will help the candidates of Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Pollachi by working tirelessly with them. This will turn to be a victory handed on a platter to M K Stalin, the Chief of the secular progressive alliance.
Ilakkiyan from VCK opined, "It is well known that our candidates will emerge victorious in the election and vote difference percentage is the target in front of us." The District Secretary of the city unit of the MDMK said, "We should work jointly in the upcoming 30 days for the victory of our candidates. A total of 12 days is necessary, which would be two days for each constituency. We cannot consider the AIADMK-BJP alliance as the underdog as they will use all the possible tactics to gain victory. So, we should all work hard together for the victory of our candidates."

Later, while addressing the media, the former Minister Pongalur Palanisamy said, "The DMK Chief is to campaign in Coimbatore on April 3. Ruling parties at the Centre and State should be thrown out of power. Though BJP fields its candidate in Coimbatore, it will not gain victory. P R Natarajan will win the election for sure. The DMK coalition is a naturally-formed one with ideology, whereas the AIADMK coalition is contradictory," he added.
