Coimbatore : Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, as per the orders of the Election Commission, a total of 90 flying squads have been constituted for 10 legislative assemblies. Nine flying squads for each constituency are functioning on shifts, ensuring vehicle checks too, right around the clock.

Meanwhile, the installation of GPS in these flying squad vehicles is taking place at a brisk pace. Of the 90 vehicles, GPS has been installed in 20 vehicles, with the work expected to be completed in a couple of days.
Commenting on the installation of the GPS, an election officer said, "With the installation of the GPS, we can locate flying squad vehicles which will help to ensure whether they are working effectively. The GPS has also been installed for the security of the officials."
