According to reports, Prithviraj, Krishna Kumar, Santhosh Kumar and five others of a private engineering college in Chinniampalayam were returning to Coimbatore in a car after attending a marriage function in Erode yesterday.
While the car was moving near Chengapalli on the Salem-Coimbatore national highway, Krishna Kumar who was at the wheels lost control over the car and rammed into the centre median. Prithviraj died on the spot while Krishna Kumar who sustained grievous injuries died on his way to the hospital.
Santhosh Kumar was admitted to the Tirupur Government Hospital with grievous injuries, but all the other five who travelled in the car escaped with minor injuries. Uthukuli Police have registered a case and commenced investigation.
