Ex-MP M Thyagarajan (59) of AIADMK completed his post-graduation from Chikkanna Government Arts College. His father Maran was a daily wager and his mother is Pattaal. Uma Maheswari (48) is Thyagarajan's wife and they have three sons Yuvaraj, Madanraj and Jeyaraj.
Thyagarajan has been a member of AIADMK since 1978. In 1990, he was the AIADMK branch secretary. During the period 1993-1998, Thyagarajan was the Deputy Secretary of the Avinashi Union Jayalalitha Peravai and during the period 1998- 2008, he worked as the integrated suburb Deputy Secretary. Since 2011, Thyagrajan is the district treasurer of Tirupur city. In 1998, he won the Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency. Thyagarajan does real estate business, apart from being a politician.
