The Madurai high court on Saturday passed a directive to the Tamil Nadu State government to initiate departmental action on Coimbatore district, SP Pandiarajan for handling the Pollachi sexual abuse case carelessly and revealing the name of the complainant in public.
However, as the election rules and model code of conduct is in effect, it was unclear, if departmental action could be initiated on the SP.
Clarifying the issue, CEO Satyabrata Sahoo confirmed that departmental action can be initiated on the SP and that the election commission has no say in it.
