Coimbatore : An election flying squad on Saturday seized Rs. 5.83 lakh from two persons at two different locations in the City.
Coimbatore : An election flying squad on Saturday seized Rs. 5.83 lakh from two persons at two different locations in the City.
The squad was conducting a vehicle check at Palakkad road and seized Rs. 83,000 from a person who did not possess any supporting documents.
In another inspection at Karupanna Gounder street, the election squad confiscated Rs. 5 lakhs from a person for not possessing supporting documents for the cash.
Later, the cash was handed over to Senthil Arasan, Additional election officer.
"Strict instructions have been given to the public to have bills/supporting documents for carrying cash above Rs. 50,000", reiterated District Election Officer and Collector K. Rajamani.
