Coimbatore : Muruganandam (36) a native of Virudhunagar who works in a courier office in Coimbatore's P.N Palayam for the past 12 years was admitted at the Government Hospital on January 21, complaining of pain in the stomach.

The CT scan and Ultrasound revealed nothing in the stomach, but he was found to have been affected by jaundice. Following this, the doctors at GH to conducted a tumour marker procedure on him, after which he was diagnosed as having a 6 cm tumour in his pancreas.
Three weeks ago, an operation was done on Muruganandam by a team of doctors under Dr. Nirmala who is a general surgeon and surgical oncologist, along with Dr. Shantha Arulmozhi, and Dr. Poonguzhali. The tumour was removed, and Muruganandam was monitored for the next seven days. He is reported to have recovered well. Dr. Asokan, the Chief of GH lauded the team of doctors.
It is commendable that a surgery of this kind which could cost patients Rs.8 -10 lakhs in a private hospital has been done smoothly in a Government Hospital having adequate facilities for a complicated surgery of this nature.
