Coimbatore : In the light of protests by students and various organizations across Tamil Nadu regarding the Pollachi sexual abuse case, the police have filed cases against the protesters for carrying out the protests without prior police permission.

On March 14 and 15, students of the Law College held a strike on Maruthamalai Road. The Vadavali police had filed cases against all 150 Law College students who were involved in the protest. Similarly, in Mettupalayam, protests were held by the Tamil Nadu Tawhid group without police permission.
The Mettupalayam police had registered cases against the 180 people involved in these protests, including 70 women. Similarly, cases have also been registered against four Government Arts College students and a few others for being instrumental in organising a human chain on the streets of Coimbatore to protest against the Pollachi sexual abuse case.
