Coimbatore: The Tirupur Court has adjourned the case of a road accident involving the son of Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman.

In 2016, Deputy Speaker Pollachi Jayaraman’s son Pravin was studying at a private engineering college in Coimbatore. On October 4, 2016 while he was returning in his car to Coimbatore from Erode along with his friends Tilak, Veera Surekha of Coimbatore and 3 other girls, Pravin lost control of his car and rammed onto the centre median and hit another car coming from the opposite direction near Perumanallur.
His friends, Veera and Surekha died on the spot in this accident. Perumanallur Police booked Pravin under section 304(A) of IPC.
When the case came for hearing in front of Judicial magistrate IV at the Tirupur Court on Friday, Pravin did not appear before the Court. A separate petition has been filed from his side for not appearing before the court, following which the case has been adjourned to April 15.
Addressing the media, lawyer Siva Prakasam said, "The case seems to be obscure. During 2016 elections, while filing his nominations for 2016 elections, Pollachi Jayaraman noted that he had 7 cars. Two months after the car accident in 2016, he submitted the proof that the car belongs to him.
However, while addressing the media two days ago, answering to the question on 2016 car accident, he responded that the car does not belong to him. His contradicting statement has triggered to investigate the same".
