Earlier, CB-CID had petitioned to the Coimbatore Court seeking custody of Thirunavukkarasu, one among the prime accused in the case.
After news broke out that the hearing of the petition will take place today, lawyers and law college students thronged the Court premises here to express their stiff opposition to the accused, Thirunavukkarasu.
Subsequently, police security was beefed up at the Coimbatore Court to maintain law and order when Thirunavukkarasu was to be brought to the court.
Since speculations were rife that the questioning could be delayed and Thirunavukkarasu may be produced at the court only by evening or tomorrow, Magistrate Nagarajan interrogated the accused through video conferencing.
The move has been made, citing law and order issues, on account of the accused being presented in court.
