CB-CID interrogation of Thirunavukkarasu may be delayed, large crowds at court calls for beefing up security

Coimbatore: With a large crowd presence of lawyers and law students present at the High Court, the CB-CID has requested interrogation of Thirunavukkarasu to be done under police protection.

Coimbatore: With a large crowd presence of lawyers and law students at the High Court, the CB-CID has requested interrogation of Thirunavukkarasu to be done under police protection. Therefore, the hearing of the petition filed by CB-CID has been delayed.

In connection with the Pollachi sexual harassment case, Vasanth Kumar, Thirunavukkarasu, Sathish and Sabarirajan have been arrested and jailed under the Goondas Act. Due to the suspicion of  involvement of many others, the case was initially handed over to the  CB-CID and later to the CBI.

CB-CID raided Thirunavukkarasu's house yesterday in Makkinampatti near Pollachi and have recovered documents pertaining to the case. Meanwhile, CB-CID had petitioned the court seeking permission to interrogate the main accused Thirunavukkarasu who was expected to appear in court today with regard to this petition.

At this stage, students of law college and lawyers have thronged in large numbers at the scene of the petition hearing. Hence, it is unlikely that Thirunavukkarasu will appear in court today. Security has been beefed up at the court premises on account of this. The CB-CID petition hearing may be held this evening or tomorrow, say sources.
