Coimbatore : The list of victims in the Pollachi sexual abuse case which has jolted the entire state of Tamil Nadu is unraveling one by one. Even as another young girl has come forward to complain to prevent any more girls suffering like she did, it is estimated that the victims affected in this case allegedly are a few hundred young college girls and minor girls.
Irked by the way the police department has handled the case right from day one by not immediately taking action against those men in the complaint lodged by the 19-year-old girl, the public and political parties are expressing their condemnation through protests and rallies.

SP Pandiarajan has now earned the distrust of women and political parties alike who allege that the SP called for a press meet on March 11 in an attempt to bury the case to protect the names of 'few' people. However, within the next couple of days itself, the statements issued by the SP are being proved wrong.

Allegations are rife that in the recent past, more than a dozen young women have committed suicide in Pollachi which could probably be connected to the sexual abuse racket.

Commenting on this, the President of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women (SCW), Kannagi has apprised that the SCW had not received any reports thus far on the increasing suicides in the district from the SP.
She also condemned the police department for releasing the name of the victim-cum-complainant in this case. The President of SCW assured that names and identities of women who complain hereon with the SCW on the same issue will be guarded with utmost discretion.
