Based on a tip-off that the two youngsters were involved in selling banned tobacco products by stocking at a godown in Rajasthan, acting on the orders from City Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, Anupparpalayam, the police raided a grocery shop on Pichampalayam 4-road. In the meantime, the police received information that tobacco products were stocked at a godown in Periyanaickenpalayam, following which they rushed to the spot and seized tobacco products.

According to the police, on investigation, it was found that the banned tobacco products were brought from Somanur in a mini-van and stocked at the godown to sell it to the nearby shopkeepers. The police arrested Leelaram and Gopal Singh of Rajasthan and seized the 250 kg banned tobacco products, omni van and a motorcycle from them. Following this, the Anupparpalayam police have registered a case and have commenced investigation.
