Coimbatore : With the Parliamentary elections nearing, the district administration is taking all necessary measures for smooth conduct of the elections from poling booth to counting centre.
Coimbatore : With the Parliamentary elections nearing, the district administration is taking all necessary measures for smooth conduct of the elections from poling booth to counting centre.
While reviewing the arrangements for the elections, District Collector K Rajamani, who is also acting as the district election officer, today visited the Government ITI College here and inspected the premises which is supposedly the counting centre.
During the inspection, the Collector gave directions to the concerned officials to ensure all arrangements like parking, barricades, food arrangements, toilets,CCTV cameras and TVs at the counting centres in the district, on the day of counting of votes for the party members and the officials deputed for election duty.
Apart from ensuring the basic facilities at the counting centre, the Collector also directed the concerned officials to arrange strong room for storing the voting machines and VVPATs.
The Collector also apprised that the new introduced VVPATs machines will be on display at the centre. With the help of the machine the public can confirm the symbol they have voted within seven seconds of voting.
He then directed the election officers to review the progress of work at the counting centre. And, also advised to set up observer rooms and media centres at each counting centre in the district.
As soon after the counting of votes is over, the officials will put the EVMS in the strong rooms under the security of central forces, informed the Collector.
Deputy CCMC Commissioner, Prasanna Ramasamy, DRO, Rama Durai Murugan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Saravanan Balaji, Tahsildhar (North), Daisy Kumar, Deputy Collector (In-charge), Sneha and other officials were present.
