All opposition parties have been protesting against the Government on this issue from the day the scandal came into light two weeks ago. Today, the DMK MP Kanimozhi participated in a protest pertaining to the issue, even though denied permission by the police department.
She joined many other party cadres who had been protesting in Pollachi, today. She raised the pertinent issue of the video of Thirunavakkarasu the day before he was arrested in which he openly said, “Many top people are involved in this and that he won’t be implicated.”
During the protests, Kanimozhi met the media and stated that this case was a shame for Tamil Nadu. "Anyone who listens to the anguish of the girls in the videos released will tremble in shock and shame. It is hard to imagine what the girls might have gone through when this ordeal took place,” she said.
Kanimozhi also came down heavily on the police department for releasing the name of the girl who had complained to them. She opined, "It is a blatant error and it acts as a deterrent for any other girl who has been affected to come forward to file complaints pertaining to this case, as they might fear that their names will also be released to the public.”
Kanimozhi raised questions on the press meet addressed by the SP of Coimbatore yesterday. “How can he say unequivocally that there is no involvement of politicians in this case when the case itself has not been investigated fully?
This is very suspicious and he has also said that they only have four videos in hand when earlier the police themselves said that they have over 50 videos in their custody.” She pointed out the video of Thirunavakkarasu where he was found saying that there are a lot of big people involved in this case and that he will not be implicated because of their involvement.
"He said this the day before he was arrested and how is it that the SP is now saying that there is no involvement of any others in this case apart from the four people who have been arrested? I am not surprised because this SP was the person who slapped a woman who was protesting in the TASMAC issue in Tirupur.
Only the AIADMK Government is capable of promoting an officer who has violated thus. The AIADMK politicians are asking not to protest and make this an issue. If you don’t protest for this, how are you going to ensure justice is served in these cases?” questioned Kanimozhi.
"There are a lot of loose ends in this case and the fact that the SP of Coimbatore, Pandiarajan had nearly closed the case yesterday with his press meet suggesting that only the four people arrested are the only ones involved has only enlarged the murkiness of the case," stated Kanimozhi.
