Roaring protests across the District has mounted pressure on the State government to conduct a transparent and comprehensive inquiry on the case.
This morning, the State government notified that the case would be transferred to CBCID, but reports are surfacing that the case could be escalated to CBI.
After S P Pandiarajan of Coimbatore addressed the media announcing that the investigation has been completed and all the accused have been arrested, there emerged a public uproar that the investigation had been muzzled by political power.
The District Collector immediately ordered today that the Goondas Act be slapped on all those detained, including Thirunavakkarasu. Simultaneously, the case was transferred to the CBCID wing of the Tamil Nadu Police Department.
Now, unconfirmed reports say that the Tamil Nadu government has suggested that the case be handed over to the CBI. An official confirmation is expected to emerge soon.
