The shocking sexual assault and abuse case of Pollachi has rocked the conscience of Tamilnadu. Four people have been arrested but more names including politicians have been floating around. One of those names is deputy speaker Pollachi Jayaraman and his son.
In this backdrop, Deputy speaker Pollachi Jayaraman met the press now and came down heavily with his allegations that DMK is spurring the protests and tarnishing the name of AIADMK in this whole issue.
He alleged that “DMK is instigating the Pollachi sexual assault case by working from the background. Sabareesan, the son in law of DMK Leader MK Stalin is behind all the social media rage. All this is done simply to gain electoral advantage using the issue.
From the beginning I have been helping to resolve this issue because the girl and her family had come and met me regarding this issue. But now, unruly elements in the DMK are using this issue to unnecessarily tarnish my image because elections are around.
In fact the affected girl's brother had come to Coimbatore Collector office and given a letter to ensure that this issue does not get politicized and they have told that they came to me to resolve the issue because I am the Minister in Pollachi.
But DMK leaders MK Stalin, MP Kanimozhi and Sabareesan have been behind this issue and are making this into a poll issue and I have complained to the Election Commissioner to ensure that this is not used in this manner.
And I’m really happy that the case has moved to the CBCID and I’ll be happy when the case has been investigated in a honest manner and brought to a logical conclusion soon.”
It will be interesting to see how the case unfolds from here on as it has moved to the purview of the CBCID officers and the public hopes that all the perpetrators in this network are brought to justice.
