Coimbatore : Seeking stern action against the accused involved in the Pollachi sexual abuse scandal, the BJP State General Secretary, Vanathi Srinivasan petitioned the District Superintendent of Police and the Commissioner of Police of Coimbatore, at their offices today.
Briefing the media at the District Collectorate after submitting the petitions, Vanathi urged officials to take stringent action against the accused regardless of their political backgrounds.
She further requested that immediate measures would be taken to curb the revealing of the victims' identities in media as it would have a psychological impact on the girls.
“The police should create a safe environment for the girls to come forward and file complaints against sexual predators," reiterated Vanathi.
She also requested the media to report sensibly with discretion on the issue, by not revealing the identity of the victims.
