Illegal money transactions during elections will warrant up to a year's imprisonment: Election Commission

The Nilgiris : The Election Commission has announced that illegal money transactions during elections will lead to imprisonment up to a year. "Both the giver and recipient will be punished. Flying squads have been appointed all over the State to stop these illegal activities," stated the Election Commission.

Flying squads have been appointed all over the State to stop these illegal activities," stated the Election Commission. 



One such flying squad comprising of five members in the Nilgiris district, led by the Tahsildar were divided into different teams to investigate throughout the night, regarding illegal money transactions.They work in three shifts per ward, from 7 am to 7 am the next day, and monitoring vehicles too. 



Tahsildar Kannadasan apprised the media, “An amount of more than 50,000 without proper documents or bills will be seized and given to the treasury, and can be returned only if necessary documents are submitted.”
