The citizens jointly allege that misappropriation of funds by contractors and usage of sub-standard materials are the reason for such inferior roads.
A similar allegation has been putforth by the residents of Udayampalayam here, as vehicles passing Udayampalayam road tend to cave in due to sub standard roads.
"It was only a year back the road was laid but presently the road is filled with pot holes and caves in at many places. Especially, the narrow stretch between Meena estate and Sowripalayam has numerous pot holes leading to frequent accidents", the residents allege.
Meanwhile, in a freak accident on Monday afternoon a truck carrying sand got buried in 1 feet after the road caved in near Udayampalayam, G.R Hospital. The truck was later pulled out using a poclain.
The resident slam that in a bid to earn more commissions the contractors use sub standard materials and lay inferior roads.
