Coimbatore : Officials of the Coimbatore Forest Range on Saturday detained and fined five men for hunting wild hares at Green Home properties close to the Maruthamalai reserve forest here.
Coimbatore : Officials of the Coimbatore Forest Range on Saturday detained and fined five men for hunting wild hares at Green Home properties close to the Maruthamalai reserve forest here.
The five men were found during a surprise visit based on a tip off by locals. They were found hitting hares with sticks in an attempt to kill them.
The men were detained by the team of foresters including RRT staff and APWs and were later produced before the District Forest Officer who imposed a fine of Rs. 5000 each.
A total of Rs. 25,000 were collected by the officials and the men were later released.
