Coimbatore : Tribals have spotted the carcass of a seven-year-old male elephant inside the reserve forest near the foothills of Perumalmudi close to Chembukkarai tribal settlement in Coimbatore Range today.
According to sources, the carcass had been lying in the area for two days and has not been attended by foresters until today evening.
Later, foresters arrived to the spot and an autopsy was initiated by the officials.
While sources claimed that the animal had succumbed to injuries caused by country bomb, foresters said that the cause can be ascertained only after an autopsy.
