Shortly after this announcement, the TN Election Commission has announced that the elections can only be conducted for the 18 constituencies as 3 constituencies have cases running in the courts before which it can’t be conducted. Those 3 constituencies are Ottapidaram, Aravakurichi and Thirupparankundram
This announcement rounds up one of the worst election announcements by a CEC in Independent India as whatever he read out was very confusing and had factual errors. At one point during the announcement, reporters and viewers were waiting for the announcements to end and get their hands on the official press release.
