Coimbatore : In a tragic accident, an employee of the TNSTC lost his life during maintenance work at Ukkadam bus depot, here on Sunday.
Buses aplenty park at the TNSTC depot for regular maintenance work. During one such maintenance work at the TNSTC bus depot at Ukkadam, Ganapathy, an employee sustained severe injuries after several of the stacked tyres collapsed on him.
Though the co-workers immediately rescued him and sent him to the Government Hospital for treatment, Ganapathy died there not responding to treatment. The doctors have reported that his chest and lungs had been gravely damaged in the accident, causing his death.
Shocked by his death, employees at the TNSTC Depot have accused that the carelessness of the higher officials in providing better infrastructural facilities at the workshop has caused the death of the employee. They also demanded that Ganapathy's family should be compensated with Rs.50 lakhs.
The employees have also jointly demanded an investigation on the issue.
