New Delhi : With all the major competing political parties close to finalising their alliances and seat allocations, the dates for the 2019 General Elections is expected to be announced around 5 pm today.
As soon the dates are announced, campaigning would start in full swing. The code of conduct would also be in place immediately after the announcement and strict vigil would be carried out by the election commission.
EC would take full control post announcements and district wise committees would be formed under the respective District Collectors, who will serve as the Electoral Officers of the their respective districts.
The officials announcement from the election commission of India has gripped tension among political parties who are yet to strike final deals with their allies.
The polling will be held in 6-7 phases, and the model code of conduct will come into effect immediately after the declaration of the dates.
The 2014 polls were held in nine phases, between 7 April -12 May and the NDA government assumed office on May 26.
