In Coimbatore, Minister for rural and municipal administration flagged off the pulse polio camp at Government hospital here on Sunday morning. Around 3.3 lakh children have been identified under below 5 years of age to get benefited from the camp.
He supervised the arrangements made for the camp and administered polio drops to children. The Minister urged that parents should not fall prey to misinformation on polio drops but come forward to administer Polio drops and safeguard their child's health.
"The programme must reach every child in the district, hence a total of 1581 centres have been established across the district (rural-379 and urban-1202) to administer Polio drops to 3.3 lakh children under the age of 5. Along with this centres, 24 mobile vehicles have been deployed to cater to the needs of people who are unable to travel to the the centres. The district has appointed 6324 workers at the centres from 7 am to 5 pm", the Minister said.
MLAs Amman K Arjunan, PRG Arun Kumar, District Collector, K. Rajamani, Coimbatore GH Dean, Dr.P. Asokan, Resident Medical Officer, Dr. Soundaravel, District Revenue Officer, Rama Duraimurugan and other officials were present.
