Coimbatore : "Looks like the 30 year dream will never see the reality" lament the Journalists in Coimbatore who are on the verge of losing hope on the subsidised plot of land promised by the Tamil Nadu government.
"During this 30 years of tenure, five Chief Ministers have changed and every one of them promised to allot lands. Even, former CM Karunanidhi made an announcement in the assembly to allot lands to Coimbatore Journalists. However, the promises are yet to be realized", allege the Journalists.
They also cited that "Last year during MGR centenary celebrations, CM Edapadi Palanisamy promised to allot 3 cents of land at Rs. 1,27,000 per cent near Vellanampatti here. As the Journalists requested to reduce the price further, the CM has assured to consider their plea and revert back with a revised price".
"Now, it's 2019, and we are yet awaiting the appraisal. Sadly, a few of our journalistic friends have retired and couple of them passed away too, still we are made to wait unconditionally for what?", questioned one of the Journalist from the City.
