Coimbatore: More than 500 members of various political parties formed a human chain to show their solidarity in the release of the seven convicts associated in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Coimbatore: More than 500 members of various political parties formed a human chain to show their solidarity in the release of the seven convicts associated in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

Pointing that the convicts have already spent 28 long years in the prison and there is no reason to drag the issue any further, the members formed a human chain from Nanjappa road and held placards on the release of Murugan, Santhan, Perarivalan, Nalini, Ravichandran, Robert Paes and Jayakumar.

"Even after the Supreme Court commuted their death sentences to life terms and noted that the State has the power to release them, yet their release continues to be uncertain. The lives of the convicts is presently lying on the governor’s desk, waiting for his signature", noted Thaniyarasu, Founder of Kongu Ilaignar Peravai.

He also apprised that chances for their release is positive and could happen anytime in the coming week.
