In Udumalpet, sanitary workers collect wastes in tractors, once a week. Following the complaint from the public that the environment is polluted due to the usage of tractors, 15 motor vehicles that function on solar energy were bought at the cost of Rs.1.8 lakhs, each. This vehicle can collect wastes from 400 houses every day. The Minister handed over the keys of these vehicles to the sanitary workers in the function held today.
