Coimbatore : The Indian Council for Agricultural Research, New Delhi and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore organized a one-day training on March 7 under the Tribal Sub Plan on Diagnosis, Identification and Management of Mite Pests at Sarkar Borathi tribal village in Coimbatore District for the benefit of tribal farmers.

Dr. R Vishnupriya, Professor (Agrl. Entomology) welcomed the gathering and delivered a lecture on 'Mite Pests of Crop Plants.' Dr. N Muthukrishnan, Professor and Head, Dept. of Agrl. Entomology narrated about the Tribal Sub Plan and delivered a lecture on the role of mite pests in crop plants.
Dr. K Prabakar, Director, Centre for Plant Protection Studies, TNAU, delivered the Presidential address, released a pamphlet on management of mites in vegetable crops and also distributed critical inputs to the tribal farmers. Dr. E Sumathi, Assistant Professor (Agrl. Entomology) delivered a lecture on Integrated Management of Mite Pests and proposed the vote of thanks.
A demonstrations on identification of mite pests and assessment of mite population, and damage in crop plants was done.
