Coimbatore : A thoughtful initiative by Chandrans Yuva Foundation and SSVM Institutions brightened up the Special Prison for Women in Coimbatore, even as International Women's Day was celebrated today among women prisoners.
Coimbatore : A thoughtful initiative by Chandrans Yuva Foundation and SSVM Institutions brightened up the Special Prison for Women in Coimbatore, even as International Women's Day was celebrated today among women prisoners. According to the joint-organisers, March 8 was just an excuse to celebrate the strength of women, everywhere, every single day. The welcome initiative which was executed by Sivanesan, Founder and Sasikala, the Director of Chandrans Yuva Foundation, Coimbatore was to identify the talents of the prisoners and expose their talents in the long run to aid themselves.
Chandrans Yuva Foundation displayed the products made by the women prisoners, and also provided them with financial aid and other needed assistance for their vocation. R Arivudainambi, DIG (Prisons), Coimbatore Range, R Krishnaraj, Superintendent of Prisons, Dr Manimekalai Mohan, Founder and Managing Trustee of SSVM Institutions and S Tharani, Deputy Jailor, Special Prison for Women, Coimbatore were the chief guests who enthusiastically participated in the event.
A cultural dance program by students, drawing and other competitions for the women prisoners were also part of the celebrations. The organisers ensured that the women prisoners were provided with all the materials and other requirements for their vocation. Recognition certificates were awarded for individual talents among the women prisoners, as well as for the policewomen and staff at the prison campus.
