Coimbatore : The Tamil Nadu special task force has launched an intense search for the injured Maoists who had escaped from Vythiri in Wayanad, Kerala, across the dense forests on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.

Maoist Jaleel was shot down during the exchange of fire between the Maoist gang and the special task force at a private lodge in Vythiri, Two Maoists who had sustained injuries during the gunfire exchange managed to escape from the spot. Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border since the injured Maoists could be brought to areas adjoining the border for treatment.
Police are on strict vigil across the Mettupalayam forest range, next to the Attapadi forest in Kerala, where it is suspected that the Maoists might be in hiding. Security has been tightened at the Government and private hospitals adjoining the border. Police who are scouring the mountain villages, adjoining the Kerala forests have advised people to inform the police if they find strangers moving around their villages. Vehicles entering Tamil Nadu through Mangarai, Mulli and Pattisalai check posts are allowed entry only after thorough checking. Armed police have been deployed at all police and forest department check posts.
