Coimbatore : A man who threatened people by impersonating himself as an IPS officer in Coimbatore was arrested by the police.

According to reports, Suraj Kumar (33) resides with his wife at Karupparayan Palayam, near Chitra, in Coimbatore. Suraj Kumar’s mother-in-law Banumathi who lives in a rented house in Podanur had allegedly delayed paying rent to the house owner. An argument broke out between the house owner and Banumathi who immediately informed Suraj Kumar.
Suraj Kumar arrived at the spot introducing himself as an IPS officer and threatened the house owner. It is reported that he behaved in a similar fashion in the neighbourhood too.
Owing to the threatening behaviour of Suraj, residents filed a complaint with the police who arrived at the spot to interrogate Suraj. After Suraj confessed to not being a real police officer, the police arrested him.
