Kamal Haasan received about 732 applications from aspiring members of his party on Wednesday, at the Makkal Needhi Maiam's (MNM) headquarters in Chennai. The applicants expressed their desire to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections this year.

While Kamal Haasan had announced that MNM would fight alone in this Lok Sabha election, the party invited applications from candidates who are interested in contesting the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Applications were also obtained for one Puducherry seat from March 1-5 and about 40 candidates evinced interest in contesting from Puducherry.

Following Puducherry, MNM started to receive applications for 39 Lok Sabha election seats in Tamil Nadu on March 6 and 7. On the first day itself, MNM received around 732 applications from its party members.
