"There are a total of 15,00,569 voters in Pollachi that includes 7,36,632 female voters and 7,63,777 male voters and 160 transgenders. Vote counting of Pollachi constituency will take place at Nachimuthu Gounder College," detailed the Collector.
As instructed by the Election Commission, arrangements for elections are on at full swing in Pollachi. The District Collector Rasamani inspected the Nachimuthu Gounder College which was the poll counting booth for six constituencies comprising of Thondamuthur, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Valparai, Madathukulam and Udumalpet.
41,633 applications have been brought under the voters list in the voters' name addition special camp held on February 23, 24. About 30,400 people have newly applied to have their names added in the voters list. People who do not have their names in the voters list can approach the Taluk Office and the Coimbatore Corporation Office to get their names registered.
All poll counting booths in Coimbatore are being inspected to ensure elderly people and the differently-abled can easily walk into the polling booths.
VVPAT, a new technology has been introduced for the upcoming election to help voters become aware if their votes were cast correctly. A self-explanatory manual for the new technology has been placed in the District Collector Office and Taluk Office to educate people on the use of this technology.
